The aim of the subproject is to model the material behaviour during mechanical joining processes as accurately as possible. Challenges arise in the simulation of the strain rate and temperature dependency of the materials as well as in the coupling of plasticity, ductile damage, and temperature. Moreover, novel numerical approaches are investigated for joining process simulations and combined with the developed material models. Both will be implemented accurately and efficiently, and experimentally validated.
